A 29-year-old man who was shot in Kensington Wednesday night has died, his father exclusively told News 12.
Anthony Vasquez was taken off life support Thursday evening after doctors told his family the bullet lodged in his brain had shattered, leaving no chance of recovery.
“He would have been in a vegetable state,” his father, Alexis Vasquez, said. “The pillow was full of blood. I was crying, still didn’t believe that he was dead. Instead of him burying his mother and I, we are the ones that had to do that now.”
He also says Vasquez was leaving his security job at a shelter when someone called out to him by his street name. He turned around and saw a person pointing a gun at him. He tried to run but was shot in the head and stomach.
Police say several people inside a gray car drove off after the shooting.
No arrests have been made, and police have not confirmed if the attack was targeted.
Anthony Vasquez’s father says he is determined to find justice for his son.
