A Brooklyn high school math teacher pleaded guilty to convincing students to send him sexual pictures and videos.
Winston Nguyen, a former teacher at St. Ann’s in Brooklyn Heights, accepted the charges that included one count of inducing a minor to engage in a sexual performance, as well as five additional counts of actions that were injurious to a minor.
Nguyen was teaching math at the private school when events took place
beginning in 2022 and until 2024. Prosecutors say he used two Snapchat accounts where he pretended to be a teenager to get students to send him those explicit videos and images.
Nguyen's attorney Frank Rothman said the extent of the evidence left the defendant with “no choice.”
“In a case like this, when you have that kind of evidence on your phone,…there is no way to not plead guilty," he said.
Nguyen is due back in court for sentencing later this month, where his lawyer said he expects to make a statement apologizing to the victims.
