Engineers and top Orange County officials are now closely monitoring a dam in in Salisbury Mills after a series of leaks were recently found.
Officials say it appears a buildup of ice at Beaver Dam Lake may have caused several leaks from existing drainage holes.
They say steps are being taken to break up the ice and that the amount of water coming through four relief valves has since slowed down.
So far, officials say it’s not clear if there’s any structural damage to the dam but that there’s no immediate threat to the public.
