yesterdayThe Department of Transportation has installed cameras in city work zones to catch speeding drivers, and to help keep construction workers safe on the highways.
The cameras will be installed at NYC DOT worksites in four of the five boroughs, including the Major Deegan and the Bronx River Parkway in the Bronx.
The DOT says the rollout of the cameras has been effective, and it has already caught more than 210 drivers speeding in the city work zones.
If caught speeding, tickets range from $50 to $100.
According to the DOT, a total of 51of its workers have been injured at work zones since 2009.
They hope that by installing the cameras, workers will be safer.
