Well, people have been digging out since Sunday's storm. News 12 Connecticut's Mark Sudall is on Route 7 in Ridgefield with a look of how it's looking out there. It seems like more digging needs to be done out there too. Lots of digging. We have been in Thunderbolt 12 keeping you safe and you may have noticed that there are piles, I mean mounds of snow everywhere you look. That's because there's just so much of it, there's nowhere to put it. Plows Snow blowers, any means possible to move the massive amounts of snow that hit our area. The snowblower went out and we shoveled our way out this morning. Robin Martin from Danbra was taking her kids to the airport Monday morning. I'm ready for the beach. Cash your cart inside this mobile mart in New Fairfield, commercial and town plow. Drivers, many who have been out since early Sunday morning, came in for something hot. The snow mix has been very fluffy and powdery, but it packs pretty hard, so it's been interesting trying to push the material out of the roadways because we've had surprisingly a lot of people out driving. We stayed open all night to, you know, make sure that the plow guys got coffee and stayed hydrated. It's just a lot of snow. They're definitely going to run out of places to put it. Now, a lot of the plow drivers we've spoken to say that they're noticing a shortage of salt for your driveway and sidewalks. In fact, uh, the folks here at the, uh, Dunkin' Donuts Valero here on Route 7 in Ridgefield say they sold out on Saturday. Hopefully they'll be getting more supplies in soon. And Newswall, Connecticut's Greg Thompson got a firsthand look at how the cleanup is going in Stamford, Greg. You're up in North Stamford right now, riding along with Matt Quinones, the director of operations for the city of Stamford, and we're in his car, but following our guys, Ronnie and Travis, who're in the plows up there doing a lot of the hard work. So Matt, Matt, we're kind of on the other side of the storm here. What have you been seeing so far? So at this point our trucks have been out really making sure that all the roads are passable. You can see they're now in a position where they're really just trying to push back the snow wherever we have the opportunity to be able to get the snow off both lanes, but You'll see on most of these side roads here up north that the roads are passable but very narrow, so it's very challenging still I think for commuters to to get through. If you're on some of those side roads or even on one of these where the plows are still coming through, what do you sort of recommend to the people right now? Yeah, just stay patient with us. We're going to be out here all day and into the night continuing to push back the snow. You can see up here in North Stamford, the terrain is such where you have a lot of hills, you have a lot of uneven grades, so that makes it even more challenging as you go through trying to plow these streets. All right, so now at the end of this road we've got this cul-de-sac here which really looks like it needs some work. Is this something that's pretty common on a lot of these side roads? Absolutely. In the cul-de-sac, ideally you have a place where folks can turn around. When we go through on the first couple of passes, you're really just trying to make sure that it's passable, so it speaks to where we are and the response where we're now trying to push back the snow. So our goal is to be in a position for businesses and schools to reopen tomorrow. Um, so we still have a lot of work ahead of us, but that still remains our, our focus. Yeah, I'm sure the people down here really appreciate that, help them get back to real life with things potentially reopening tomorrow. The UConn campus is closed this morning. Students can look forward to canceled classes. However, online and hybrid courses may be held at the discretion of professors, so you wanna check in before you clock out for the day. UConn Health will remain open.

And while some people stayed inside during Sunday's snowstorm and others waited until nighttime to walk around, North Stanford's Cody Heisinger had a very, very different idea. He packed his skis in his car and headed downtown. Heisinger says he tries to do. And every time it snows, mainly as a way to just get out the house, but also because it's a lot of fun and after making his way around some of the parks during the day, he says he heads into the busier areas trying to stick to the sidewalks as he skis his way to pick up some dinner. I love any chance to get out and enjoy the snow, you know, Stanford's been doing a great job clearing, but there's still a lot of room for us to have some fun. Now while Heisinger says he does it alone, based on the number of people who come up to him, he says he'd be up for a group outing next time it snows.
