Dermatologist warns not to neglect these areas when applying sunscreen
A dermatologist has a warning about skin cancer in the wake of several days of brutal heat.
Dr. Omar Ibrahimi, of the Connecticut Skin Institute, said people often neglect to cover parts of the body with sunscreen.
"Don't forget to get areas like the ears,” he said. “These are often neglected and it's a common area that I treat patients for skin cancer on."
The doctor also reminded people to apply sunscreen to the back of their hands.
Dr. Ibrahimi said it's also important that people avoid playing outdoor sports in the middle of the day when the sun's rays can be most damaging.
