A popular Bed-Stuy laundromat was shut down by the city after 25 years in business.
A spokesperson with the Department of Buildings said that Jiang's Laundromat had four rooms for rent with no fire escape and illegal gas lines that created a risk of carbon monoxide exposure.
Members of the community told News 12 that they are shocked.
"I saw the vacate order and was really taken aback by it. I've been going here for 20 years!” said customer Ida Singletary.
A person who answered the phone number listed on the front of the building said that they hope to get a permit soon.
They did not respond when News 12 asked if they were the owner.
City records show no pending permits.
