All city beaches are closed to swimming again today because of dangerous rip currents and wave concerns.
Although Hurricane Erin isn't making landfall, the East Coast will still feel the effects of it. Experts say waves can reach 9 to 13 feet. Beaches on Long Island and in New Jersey are also closed to swimmers due to these conditions.
Visitors can go to the beach just not in the water. You'll see red flags flying up — meaning swimming is off limits. Lifeguards and parks enforcement will be posted along the shoreline to enforce the swimming ban.
