Danbury police officer injured trying to arrest shooting suspect

Once officers arrived on scene, they were quickly able to collect information on the suspect and found his vehicle in the area. Police say the suspect engaged the officers in a pursuit.

A Danbury police officer was injured while attempting to arrest a shooting suspect Friday night, police say.
Police say a person was shot in the neck around 6:30 p.m. near 2 Lake Ave.
They were taken to the hospital.
Once officers arrived on scene, they were quickly able to collect information on the suspect and found his vehicle in the area.
Police say the suspect engaged the officers in a pursuit.
Officers were able to stop the vehicle on I-84 West near the New York border. The suspect was then apprehended and a handgun was found in his vehicle.
An officer involved in the crash suffered minor injuries during the apprehension of the suspect, police say.
Neither the suspect or victim have been identified.
