CT Siting Council delays monopole vote until next month
The Connecticut Siting Council decided Thursday to delay a vote on the controversial monopole project that would impact parts of Fairfield and Bridgeport.
Members will vote on the issue at their next meeting on Oct. 16.
Fairfield and Bridgeport leaders voiced their opposition Wednesday against the United Illuminating's proposed route.
Gov. Ned Lamont urged the council to delay the vote. However, members said the delay was due to opposition from municipality leaders, not from Lamont.
Critics have said the project would have a major impact on neighborhoods and small businesses.
