Tracking the Tropics: Hurricane Erin is a Category 4 hurricane with winds of 140 mph and gusts of 165 mph, currently located east of the Bahamas and north of the Dominican Republic and Haiti. The track that this storm is likely to take continues to be offshore of our area; however we will feel indirect impacts with wind as well as waves and life-threatening rip currents at city beaches. There is a rip current statement in effect from Tuesday morning through Wednesday night due to dangerous rip currents from increasingly large swells as Hurricane Erin is set to get closer.
OVERNIGHT: Partly cloudy, cool and crisp. Open the windows. Lows in the 60s.
TUESDAY: Clouds, sun, and breezy. Highs in the high 70s, lows in the mid-60s.
WEDNESDAY: Clouds and rain chances. Highs in the high 70s, lows in the high 60s.
THE REST OF THE WEEK: Highs in the low 80s. Rough surf conditions continue, and we could continue to see gusts between 20-30 mph.
