WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Overnight temperatures will stay on the cool side, with many locations in the 50s. The average low for this time of the year is 64. Some parts of the Catskills in Ulster County could see temperatures cool down into the upper 40s.
  • By Wednesday, the cloud cover will thicken up again and a chance for showers will develop. Totals shouldn't be higher than 0.25 inch. This cold front will help to push Hurricane Erin away from the Northeast. But the tropical system will still impact the region with wind and waves.
  • Friday into Saturday, temperatures go up toward seasonal levels and humidity slowly creeps up as well. The next rain chance arrives Sunday.
  • TROPICS: Hurricane Erin is a major hurricane, and it is moving just north of Turks and Caicos, just offshore of the Bahamas. It is forecast to curve away from those tropical islands and make a northernly turn. The timeframe for wind and wave activity to increase will be from Wednesday into Thursday – lingering into Friday.
OVERNIGHT: Partly cloudy, with cooler than average temperatures and a light breeze. Lows: Low 50s to low 60s.
TUESDAY: Mostly sunny with lower humidity levels hanging around for a few days. Highs: Mid-70s. Lows: Upper 50s to low 60s.
WEDNESDAY: Mostly cloudy with scattered rain shower chances. Highs: Mid-70s. Lows: Upper 50s to low 60s.
THURSDAY: Mix of sun and clouds with breezy to windy conditions. Highs: Upper 70s. Lows: Upper 50s to low 60s.
