A heartfelt tribute was given on the House floor for Al Magnatta, a longtime firefighter from Congers, who is set to celebrate his 100th birthday later this month.
"A hero, an inspiration, happy birthday Al," said Congressman Mike Lawler, honoring Magnatta.
Born in January 1925, Al served as a fighter pilot during World War Two before becoming an electrician. He has been a dedicated member of the Congers Fire Department for over seven decades, previously holding the position of chief.
"His leadership, commitment, and resilience have been instrumental in reshaping fire safety standards across Rockland County and New York State. At 100 years old, Al remains the Congers Fire Department's oldest acting member, continuing to respond to calls and serve his community," Lawler added.
