Woodbridge Regional Animal Control is asking for the public's help in identifying the person responsible for abandoning a cat in Seymour.

Officials said the cat was found Tuesday on South Main Street.

People who discovered the animal said it had been left overnight in a parking lot inside a crate with no food or water.

Animal control officials said indoor cats that are abandoned outdoors often become overwhelmed with fear and may stay in one location rather than trying to escape.

The cat is now safe as investigators work to determine who left it behind.
