Bushwick man arraigned for allegedly stabbing woman to death during domestic dispute
The Brooklyn District Attorney's Office says a Bushwick man was arraigned for stabbing a woman to death during a domestic dispute.
Jonathan Fernandez, 38, is accused of killing Eryka Caldwell, 41, inside their home on Cooper Street just before 9 a.m. Sunday.
Officers found Caldwell on the floor inside the home with a "large laceration" to her neck, according to court documents. She also suffered stab wounds throughout her body.
Paramedics rushed Caldwell to One Brooklyn Health-Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, where she died.
Sources tell News 12 that Caldwell and Fernandez were a couple. They say Sunday was not the first time police were called to their home for a domestic dispute.
Officials say Fernandez was taken into custody at the scene and officially charged less than 10 hours after the attack.
He faced a judge for the first time on Monday for murder and criminal possession of a weapon charges.
Fernandez is due back in court on Friday.
