The first week of school is off to a rocky start in Neptune Township School District.
On Monday, Superintendent of Schools Tami Crader informed parents and students that Seman-Tov Bus Company “would not be providing large-bus dismissal transportation at any of our schools.”
She said the district was informed “very late” in the day on Monday.
Crader told News 12 that schools are being extra lenient with drop off and pick up time.
"Our parents are great. Very supportive. Imagine getting a call at work saying you have to pick up in an hour because the buses aren't coming," she said, adding that the district is legally bound to work only with Semon Tov.
Some parents have banded together for carpools. Others who regularly drive their kids to school said they didn't see a difference than any other day.
“The traffic has been low. It's been flowing fine. It hadn't impacted us…But I'm sure [it does for] working parents,” said Mary Levy.
Some students relied on Uber and taxis for drop offs.
News 12 has also reached out to the bus company and is waiting on a response.
