Homes for the Brave in Bridgeport is building awareness about resources available to prevent suicide among veterans during Suicide Prevention Month.

"It's such an urgent issue, and at Homes for the Brave, we have a vigorous mental health program that really tries to address the mental health needs of our veterans because many of them are struggling from things that happened while they served," says Homes for the Brave's Vince Santilli.

"Veterans suicide continues to be a heartbreaking, all-to-common phenomenon, and the Veterans Administration has to provide more assistance to places like Homes for the Brave here in Connecticut," says Sen. Richard Blumenthal.

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs says their top clinical priority is preventing suicide among all veterans.
