Bridgeport police say a 38-year-old has been identified as the body found decomposing in a pond in Beardsley Park.

Police say Stephen Hall was reported missing by his family on Aug. 7. A Silver Alert was then issued. Detectives had been investigating Hall's disappearance since then.

As News 12 has reported, two fishermen discovered the body at Bunnell's Pond Sunday night. Police said Hall had his clothes on and appeared to have been in the water for possibly as long as week.

Police say the department's Major Crimes Unit and the Officer of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed Hall's identity through DNA.
