An arrest was made in connection to a stabbing in Morris Heights that left one man dead and another wounded, police say.

Jeffrey Jorge, 27, of Brooklyn was taken into custody on Thursday afternoon - less than 24 hours after he allegedly carried out the brazen attack that killed 32-year-old Rashaun Shettlewood, of the Bronx.

Shettlewood was killed about a half mile from his home, according to police.

The NYPD says his alleged attacker, Jorge, now faces a slew of charges, including murder.

According to police sources, this is not Jorges' first run in with the law. They say he has been arrested at least 13 other times. His most recent charges were in 2022 and includes criminal possession of a weapon and assault causing serious injury.

The stabbing - which was captured on surveillance video - happened just after 3:30 p.m. Wednesday underneath scaffolding near Davidson and West Tremont avenues.

Shettlewood suffered a stab wound to the chest, and the second victim was stabbed multiple times in the torso.

Paramedics rushed both men to St. Barnabas, where Shettlewood died.

The 33-year-old victim is expected to recover, according to police.

Police sources tell News 12 that they do not believe the two men knew their attacker. They say an argument preceded the stabbing.

Jorge is also charged with attempted murder, manslaughter, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

The motive behind the deadly attack was not immediately known.
