Players from the Bridgeport Islanders visited the Make-A-Wish Foundation in Trumbull, joining children for a day of fun and games.
The athletes competed with the kids in activities ranging from ping pong to skee-ball.
"The wishing place offers so much for our wish kids. It's a place that they can discover what their one true wish is. It's an interactive journey that they go through, and it's incredible," said Kim Smith of Make-A-Wish. "And to be able to have this space down here, that they can play ping pong, there's a claw machine — who doesn't like an unlimited claw machine. And for the Bridgeport Islanders to come out and play with them, it gives them hope, and it's just a distraction from the every day."
Beyond the games, the children also signed autographs for the players, creating keepsakes for the Islanders to remember the day.
