New York state leaders organized on Sunday the second annual "Bridge For Peace," a part of a continued effort to address crimes in Bronx communities.

Dozens of participants marched from Inwood to University Heights while denouncing gun violence.

"It is our commitment to our community to ensure that we bring the resources and that we continue being united in this fight against violence," said Assembly Member Yudelka Tapia.

Tapia and New York State Assembly Member Manny de Los Santos organized the demonstration with a strong show of other elected officials, and community advocates. They addressed issues that struck chords and impacts the communities in the borough.

Many called for more access and accessibility across the city, working with educators and public safety officials to bring effective programming and opportunities.

"For safe streets for everyone in our community. Everyone deserves access to public safety," said Council Member Oswald Feliz.

Earlier this month, the NYPD's top brass said shootings, murders, robberies and burglaries have all decreased across the city with a nearly 6% reduction compared to the same period a year ago.

"Hats off to the New York City Police Department removing 12,000 illegal guns off our streets," said Mayor Eric Adams.
