The Town of Riverhead honored three Hispanic residents for their service to the community as part of Hispanic Heritage Month.
Jennifer Cabrera, Monserrat Ruiz and Vanessa Lockel were recognized in helping drive Long Island’s agriculture. Lockel is the Executive Director of the Cornell Cooperative Extension in Suffolk County.
"To be able to be a representative of that community but to also give access back and services,” said Lockel. “It's really great and i love that the town acknowledged that."
Cabrera was recognized for her work as Commissioner of the Suffolk Department of Labor. Ruiz was honored as the owner of Cafe Victoria in Riverhead.
