Family and friends will say a final goodbye Thursday to Seikeya Jones, the woman whose body was found in a suitcase near the border of Huntington and Huntington Station.
Memorial services will be held 6-9 p.m. at the M.A. Connell Funeral Home in Huntington Station.
Jones would have turned 32 years old on Thursday. Her mother had told News 12 that she hoped to hold services on her daughter’s birthday.
On Sept. 3, police found Jones’ body stuffed inside a suitcase next to an apartment building on Nassau Road. She was a mother of a young boy.
On Wednesday, the man accused of being connected to her death, Ronald Schroeder, was indicted on a felony charge of concealment of a human corpse and multiple felony drug charges. He pleaded not guilty.
A candlelight vigil was held earlier this month to celebrate Jones’ life. “She loved music, always smiling, always happy,” said Devin Howard, a friend.
Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney said, “This case is immensely troubling. We will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to ensure that the victim and her family receive justice.”
The cause of Jones’ death is still under investigation.
Family members believe Schroeder should face additional charges in her death.
