Police in Bloomingdale helped a red-tailed hawk out of a "fowl" situation recently, according to authorities.
Officers flocked to the scene after receiving a distress call about a red-tailed hawk that became entangled in someone's net, police said in a social media post.
"Acting quickly and carefully, officers worked together to free the bird, ensuring it wasn’t further injured," the post read.
The bird was safely released following the incident, police said. Despite some ruffled feathers, the hawk is expected to make a full recovery.
"Great work by our team proving that protecting and serving extends to all members of our community—feathered friends included," the police statement said.
It is unclear how the hawk became entangled in the net.
