A Midwood post office is now closed after shots were fired inside the building.
The post office will be closed until July 7.
Officers on scene say they are repairing the damage from the bullet holes inside the lobby after shots were fired inside on Monday afternoon.
Police say a 37-year-old woman was held at gunpoint during the attempted robbery.
Surveillance video from Bohm Law Firm, P.C. shows the moments those shots were fired inside this post office.
Police say the suspect, a man wearing a blue helmet and a red backpack on a moped, fired his gun but didn't hit anyone.
Later in the surveillance video, a woman can be seen running to a nearby restaurant for help.
Sources tell News 12 a person matching the suspect's description also tried to rob a Western Union in Flatbush at gun point the same day.
Authorities say 37-year-old Travis Towler was arrested and charged with robbery, but there was still increased security at the post office on Tuesday, as neighbors are still in shock.
“It's a very scary thing, especially to me living very close to where the situation happened now, I have to worry about my life no matter where I go,” said neighbor Paul Money.
Some people in the neighborhood had no idea what happened and showed up with mail and packages.
"When I saw you standing outside and saw it shuttered, I was quite surprised,” said neighbor Brandon Vescovo.
"I'm hoping in the future there will be maybe more security and anything that can protect people in this type of situation like this,” Money said.
