For the rest of the week, expect bitterly cold nights and mornings for the region as temperatures continue to feel as if they are in the teens.
By Tuesday afternoon, temperatures will finally increase to being more manageable, ahead of even more comfortable temperatures for the rest of the week. It will remain dry for most of this week. Sunshine and clouds will share the skies in the lower Hudson Valley.
Then, by Thursday afternoon, an approaching frontal system from the west will approach the region following a very mild day. Cloudy skies in the evening will set the stage for a very windy and rainy Thursday night into early Friday morning.
We are watching this system closely, but at this moment, prepare for a gusty and soaked Friday morning commute. Wind gusts could be from 30-40 mph.
OVERNIGHT: Mostly cloudy, less wind, but still frigid. Lows in the teens. Wind chill values will be from 10 to 15 degrees.
TUESDAY: Bitterly cold morning, less wind, and mostly sunny skies. In the afternoon, temperatures will be more manageable, but it will still be cold. Highs near 30 degrees. Lows in the 20s.
WEDNESDAY: Sunshine and clouds throughout the day, seasonable temperatures, and light winds. Highs in the low 40s. Lows in the upper 20s.
THURSDAY: Mostly sunny with clouds building in the afternoon. Winds will become breezy in the afternoon and evening, with gusts around 20-30 mph. It will be very mild as temperatures warm near 50 degrees. Rain may develop late at night. Highs in the 50s. Lows in the 30s.
FRIDAY: Very windy. Rain is likely for the morning commute. Wind gusts are expected to be from 30-40 mph. Rain will likely end by the early afternoon. Dry and windy for the rest of the day. Highs in the 50s. Lows in the 20s.
