As the holiday season ramps up, the Baychester Post Office is already bustling with energy and a strong sense of family among the staff. Workers say this is one of their busiest and most joyful times of the year.
Mail carriers and clerks begin their days sorting and organizing thousands of letters and packages before heading out into the cold. Community Specialist Xavier Hernandez explains that all mail collected throughout the day is sent to a processing center, where large machines automatically sort items by zip code before returning them to the post office for delivery.
Carriers say the job comes with long hours, heavy loads, and plenty of layering to stay warm. But many take pride in the personal connections they’ve built with residents, delivering to families they’ve watched grow from generation to generation.
For community members, those familiar faces at the door are a welcomed part of the holiday season- a reminder of the dedication behind every package and letter delivered.
