Three people were fatally shot in Berkeley Township early Tuesday morning in what authorities are describing as a triple homicide. The suspected gunman later died after turning the weapon on himself, officials said.

Bradley D. Billhimer announced that the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit, the Berkeley Township Police Department, and the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit are actively investigating the incident.

The suspect was transported to Community Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

Officials have not released the identities of the victims or the suspect as the investigation continues.
