A brazen armed robbery at an Exxon gas station on McCarter Highway in Newark early Friday morning was caught on surveillance video.

The masked gunman, armed with a handgun, stormed into the gas station just before 1 a.m. and pointed the weapon at the clerk. He stole cash from the register and store safe before fleeing the scene.

The suspect was last seen heading east on Third Avenue.
