Parents of kids attending a day care in Westbury say they were told on Friday that the business would be closing.
Bay Shore-based Storybook Kids Prep took over the day care, formerly known as Little Sponges, this past April.
Parents say they are now looking for other options for their kids when everyone goes back to school and work after Labor Day.
“Friday afternoon, [I] got a message...that they were closing. This is three days after they charged us, and they gave us no notice and we’re now all scrambling to find alternate day care," said Allison Nitzan, of Westbury.
A lawyer for Storybook Kids Prep tells News 12 it is closing its Westbury location because it is unable to cover payroll and operational expenses.
Parents say they were told on Tuesday they can go to the day care to get their refunds. Some say relatives will be watching their children until they can find a new day care.
