Nassau County police said Friday morning that 9 teens were arrested during a "takeover" of the Green Acres Mall Thursday evening.
Citizen video from Thursday showed Nassau County police taking several young people into custody as hundreds of people, mostly teens, tried to get into the building.
Officials said no one was injured, though shoppers who spoke with News 12 said many of the stores inside Green Acres were shut down as officers worked to restore order.
The mayhem that unfolded at the mall came after 18 people were arrested following a similar stunt at the Bay Plaza Mall in the Bronx on Presidents' Day. Both events were spread across social media, encouraging kids to "takeover local malls until they got kicked out."
The recent string of posts online also put law enforcement in the Hudson Valley on high alert.
News 12 reached out to management for the Green Acres Mall for comment yesterday and again Friday morning, but has not yet heard back.
Nassau County police have not yet said what charges the nine people taken into custody are facing.
