The FDNY says three people are fighting for their lives after a fire erupted inside a building on Bainbridge Avenue on Monday. Five others were also hurt — one suffered serious injuries, while a second person and three firefighters suffered minor injuries.
Crews responded to the second-floor blaze at 2609 Bainbridge Ave. just before 3:30 p.m.
Citizen app footage shows black smoke rising from the rooftop while firefighters work their way inside from the fire escape.
Fire officials say crews got the fire under control just over an hour later. EMS took all five victims and the three firefighters to the hospital.
News 12 reached out to the Red Cross about the assistance it is providing and is awaiting a response.
