Four United States military veterans were presented with refurbished vehicles on Friday.
Dynasty Auto Body in Paterson, along with Geico Insurance and the National Auto Body Council, presented the vehicles are part of the NABC’s Recycled Rides Program.
Retired U.S. Army Spc. Jeffrey Ortiz was one of the veterans presented with a vehicle. Ortiz lost his wife to cancer in 2016. He was given a refurbished 2022 Hyundai Elantra, which will allow him to make a living as a DoorDash and Uber driver, as well as keep his kids involved in activities.
“My other son is into sports and into music…I got them involved in various things, and it will help get us all around,” Ortiz says.
Army veteran Ivette Caban was given a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee to help her continue her work assisting other veterans with the New Jersey Veterans Network.
Navy veteran Robert Marshall received a 2023 Hyundai Sonata to help him get to doctor appointments and to go see his 90-year-old mother in Cherry Hill.
Army veteran Donald Chavies was not able to attend the event, but he also received a vehicle.
Those who received the vehicles were nominated by the New Jersey Veterans Network, a volunteer mobile outreach program dedicated to helping veterans and their families.
