The Queens DA announced a 120-count indictment against 10 reputed transnational members of the Tren de Aragua gang.
The 10 alleged gang members are Venezuelan citizens. Eight have been apprehended at this time, while two remain at large.
All 10 are charged with conspiracy to possess and sell illegal firearms in New York City. Five are charged with criminal sale of a firearm and face 25 years if convicted. The five others were indicted on charges of criminal possession of a weapon in the first degree and face 15 years if convicted.
Prosecutors say their investigation began in 2024 for gun trafficking in New York City.
Authorities say 34 guns were recovered during the investigation, including four semi-automatic pistols and two assault weapons.
"TDA is a dangerous transnational gang that has specialized in murder, trafficking and mayhem," said NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch.
"During yesterday's case takedown, one of the perpetrators fractured the arm of one of the detectives so severely that he is scheduled to have surgery later this week," said Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny.
The injury to the detective is under investigation. Charges are pending.
