1 person drowns, 6 others rescued from ocean in Seaside Heights

The Seaside Heights Fire Department says that a call came in just before 7 p.m. on Monday.

One person has drowned and six others are recovering following an incident in Seaside Heights, according to officials.
The Seaside Heights Fire Department says that a call came in just before 7 p.m. on Monday regarding people in distress in the water at the Webster Avenue Beach.
Crews were able to pull everyone out of the water, but one swimmer died at the hospital.
Officials say there were 12 water rescues in rip currents over the weekend. All were on unguarded beaches.
