1 dead, 4 injured in Newtown car crash

Police say a Ford Mustang GT was heading west at a high rate of speed. As the vehicle approached the intersection, the driver did not follow the left-hand curve in the road and drove straight, striking a tree, police say.

1 dead, 4 injured in Newtown car crash
A 19-year-old Danbury woman was killed early Sunday morning in a crash in Newtown, police say.
Police responded to a single-car crash on Berkshire Road, also known as Route 34, near the intersection with Zoar Road around 2:40 a.m.
They say a Ford Mustang GT was heading west at a high rate of speed. As the vehicle approached the intersection, the driver did not follow the left-hand curve in the road and drove straight, striking a tree, police say.
Five people were in the Mustang, including Mary Cordero who died at the scene. Cordero was sitting in the rear middle seat when the crash happened.
The four other people were taken to Danbury Hospital for their injuries. Two were critically injured.
