Woman shot in the face in East New York
A 41-year-old woman was shot in the face in East New York, authorities say.
It happened on a residential block near 696 Georgia Ave. just after 4:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Police say officers found the woman bleeding from her head and nose. They later determined she had been shot.
EMS rushed the 41-year-old to One Brooklyn Health-Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center.
Authorities say she is expected to recover.
Police still remained at the scene nearly 12 hours later.
It was not immediately clear what sparked the violence.
