Animal rights activists gathered outside PepsiCo’s headquarters in Purchase on Tuesday morning to protest what they say is animal cruelty tied to the company’s supply chain.

PETA says demonstrators cemented their feet at the front entrance of the headquarters to demand PepsiCo stop using bulls to transport sugar in extreme heat.

The group is calling on the company to adopt animal‑free harvesting methods and use trucks instead. PepsiCo was holding a virtual annual shareholder meeting today.

“It’s up to a company like PepsiCo to lead the way, set the standard, take bulls out of their supply chain,” said Ashley Byrne of PETA. “There’s no reason to continue this cruelty.”

PETA says six activists were arrested during the protest.

The Harrison Police Department declined to comment on the arrests.

In a statement, PepsiCo said the company believes in the ethical and humane treatment of animals.
