Woman shot by NYPD officer after stabbing incident inside Queens home
A violent and chaotic incident inside a Queens home left four people wounded and ended when an NYPD officer shot a woman who police say advanced toward officers with a knife.
Police responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a home invasion and a stabbing at a residence Friday night on 149th Street in Jamaica around 9:38 p.m.
According to authorities, officers initially could not make contact with anyone inside.
Two men later appeared at a front window, including one with visible injuries.
One of the men told officers he had been stabbed and could not come downstairs because a relative was still inside the home.
After a woman threw keys from a third-floor window and officers heard screaming inside, NYPD personnel entered the house.
Officers made their way to a third-floor bedroom, where they found two men and a woman.
Police say the two men complied with commands, but the woman did not.
Investigators say she moved toward officers while armed with a knife, prompting one officer to fire a shot while another deployed a Taser.
The woman was taken to Jamaica Hospital in stable condition.
Police say three men and the woman all suffered stab wounds.
EMS brought one man to Jamaica Hospital, and two others to North Shore University Hospital for treatment.
Two knives were recovered from the scene.
Authorities say it remains unclear what led to the stabbing incident before officers arrived.
The investigation is ongoing.
