Westchester County leaders are pushing back against proposed rate hikes by Con Edison, citing concerns over already expensive living costs.
The utility company is proposing an 11% rate hike for electric bills and a 13% increase for gas bills.
Residents say their bills are already too high, with one Ardsley resident reporting a 40% increase in recent months. "It could be a hardship for a lot of families," said Joseph Leone. "Increases are never good, especially with what's going on now with inflation and everything."
The Westchester County Board of Legislators is joining a case to seek more information on the proposed rate hikes. The town of Greenburgh is also considering joining the fight.
