Well, this morning we are falling back into news 12 into this chilly weather in West New York this morning. And we're really taking a look at some of the town's rich history. Yeah, you saw New Jersey's Kimberly Buck is live at Miller Park. So Kimberly, that area is over 100 years old. Wow, good morning. And welcome to Miller Stadium. This is a very historic stadium and you could see the gorgeous sunrise with the New York City skyline right behind me. We're going to turn over to Jonathan Castaneda, the president of the Board of Education here in West New York. Tell us they really right. That's right. This site has been the for a number of celebrations, cultural celebrations, events from rodeo to boxing matches and of course baseball and I can see why it's stunning. It's a very, it's a very big stadium for high school baseball. I know we spoke off camera. But the thing that really got me is that the boss shot part of the music video glory days here he did in 1985. He pick this setting as a spot where he recorded his video. It makes me want to go back and watch because I'm a Jersey girl. Very Jersey proud. So this is where high school baseball takes place. It is stunning. I mean, really, you have to see it for yourself, but we've seen some real success leave here. That's right. 1988 our high school baseball team won the national championship. Um, we've had countless players come through here who have played at the major league level. Uh, our local baseball team, uh, has a lot of success right on this field which that centers l longer than Yankee Stadium. And we're very excited to be able to preserve this as one of the last urban ballparks, probably in North New Jersey and definitely in the state. Yeah, lots of Jersey pride, I'm sure. And we're actually just so they have an idea. The viewers of the proximity to where we just were. Miller Park is just across the way and in our next hit, we're going to take a deeper dive into what's next for the space. Falling back on News 12 into the chilly weather in West New York this morning. And we're taking a look at some of the town's rich history. Love that news. 12 New Jersey's Kimberly Buck is live at Miller Park for us. So Kimberly, that area is over 100 years old and you're giving us a first hand look here. Yes, we are Asia and Lauren and now that it is light out, you could really appreciate this park and all of its beauty. And Jonathan Castaneda, the president of the Board of Education here in West New York. Thank you again for spending time with us. There's a few special unique things about this park. If you kind of mayor a series and the board of commissioners, when they built the park, they wanted to be inclusive to all members of the community. So this park has a lot of features for members, all members of our community, all Children, including Children with special needs, which is something that they're very proud of and, and we're very proud to be a part of as well. And let's talk about the sensory experience as well. Ok. The sensory experience involves a lot of the features that we have here that allow our Children with special needs to be able to participate and join on the fun. I love that. And also beside us is the community garden, which is another unique thing, especially for Fall. Of course. Now, the community garden is one of the most popular parts of this park. It is enjoyed by over 30 members of our community. And there's a very long wait list of individuals who want to be a part of that as well. So we're looking to hopefully expand in the future. I know this is a historic, one of the earliest parks here in West New York. When was this all renovated? This was renovated. We opened last year. There was a two year process where we designed and planned and we opened last year and it was, it's been a huge hit ever since. But yes, this is one of the largest municipal parks that we have. And I think one of the largest municipal parks in the county. Thank you. And I think you're doing a great job of kind of showing the viewers. The park is here, the stadium is there, but there's more to come. So we're really excited to share more with our audience as we fall back into news 12, we'll send it back to you in the studio.

Well, we are falling back on News 12 into the chilly weather in West New York this morning. And we're taking a look at some of the town's rich history news. 12. New Jersey's Kimberly Buck is live near Miller Park and Stadium in Kimberly. That area is over 100 years old and it's getting a big renovation to me. Yes, Lauren. And it's the perfect time of year to spend time outdoors. We're here on Jackson Street. I'm here with Jonathan Castaneda, president of the Board of Education here in West New York. And could you tell us about this location so that we, our viewers can understand? Of course, Kim. So right now we're right between Miller Park and Miller Stadium which bisects the future site of the recreation center that's going to be, that's going to complete the 6.2 acres of recreational space for our town, so that both the park and the stadium is occupied by many of the students here in town. So as the president of the Board of Education, if you could kind of reference all that our kids come to these parks day in and day out, our baseball team plays in a stadium and all our facilities are for the intent of our Children, but also for the community at large. And we're very proud of that and you're very inclusive, which is a thing that jumped out to me. Oh, yeah, every child, every member of our community is welcome to all of our parks. And you know, we create spaces intentionally. The mayor is very big on that and the board of commissioners as well. And you know, somewhere that this park is so historic, we've seen Babe Ruth. We've said, Lou Gehrig, the boss shot glory days here at the stadium. So as someone that grew up here in West New York, you must have an awesome amount of pride. I'm very, very proud of this town. I love living here. I love having been born here right down the road in Bergland Avenue. We have the Miracle Mile. We have a number of establishments that serve our community. And the biggest part of this community is that uh we're one, everyone is um looks out for each other. Everyone loves each other. Uh And most importantly, it's, it's a welcoming place for all. I felt that all morning especially. We, we were accompanied by such a great crew and we're so thankful for that. So thank you for your time. Well, we are falling back on news 12 into this chilly weather in West New York this morning and we're gonna be taking a look at some of the town's rich history. Yeah, you saw New Jersey's Kimberly Buck is live at Miller Park. Kimberly. That area is over 100 years old. Yes, good morning. You certainly feel that fall crisp air. And this morning, I'm joined by Adam Parkinson, one of the commissioners of West New York here to tell us about this rich history. We're standing in Miller Park. So give us a little bit of background. Obviously, this is renovated and gorgeous now, but take us back a few years. So Miller Park is one of these places that is part of the trifecta of Mayor Albio Sires vision for a six acre space of record, an outdoor space in a town that's a square mile. We have a lot of different activities and we've really expanded our recreation program where we have our basketball courts, our soccer field, we have a community garden here, a splash park that has well over 20,000 Children that we service each year and we have a playground specifically here that was designed for some of our Children who have special needs. It has sensory aspects of it and it really is a great place where a lot of our residents are able to enjoy. It's really all encompassing. And now this dates back to 1914. So we know that this has changed over the years and there's certainly no shortage of things to do. And it's actually, it's still dark out and even this time of day, it's brightly lit and absolutely stunning. So tell us, I mean, we're in Miller Park, but Miller Stadium is a stone's throw away. So funny enough, actually, one of the coaches from Miller Stadium, which is an iconic place in West New York. One of our coaches actually has a bench dedicated for him specifically here. He's a senior citizen that lives in the same building as our mayor and he felt very passionately about recognizing terrific and we'll take in our next day, we'll take a walk over to Miller Stadium and we'll come back and forth so we can see it and give it fair daylight so you can see exactly how beautiful it is. Back on News 12 this morning in this chilly weather in West New York. And we're taking a look at some of the town's rich history news. 12. New Jersey's Kimberly Buck is out there, live at Miller Park and Kimberly, what are you gonna show us now? Yes. So Lauren, as if there wasn't enough to see here at Miller Park and now here at Miller Stadium, there's more. So Adam Parkinson, a commissioner here in West New York is here to tell us all about the new plans for the recreation center. Yes. So there's a lot of new projects that are coming to West New York. We have a new school that's going to be coming, but this is going to be the site of our new recreation center. And again, it's part of that trifecta that the mayor had in mind for six acres of recreation space, Miller Park, Miller Stadium. And then our state of the art. That's a lot for West New York, a lot dedicated to recreational space. So I know there's a pool coming, an indoor swimming pool, we're going to be having some basketball courts. We have track soccer, a golf simulator. It really is going to be something else and these are amenities for the high school students. So these are going to be amenities for the entire town and there's going to be parking that comes with that as well. Oh, wow. So there's so much to come and real quick before we go. When can we expect this to happen? We're expecting this sometime in 2026. 0, so it's really coming up soon. Big stuff here happening in West New York.
