West Haverstraw man charged with possessing child sex abuse materials
A West Haverstraw man was arraigned this week for charges related to the possession of child sexual abuse materials, according to the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office.
Authorities say the investigation began after a CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children was referred to local officials in April.
Law enforcement executed a search warrant at the residence of 34-year-old Chrisner Joseph on June 12.
Investigators say they found electronic devices later determined to contain numerous images depicting sexual performances by children under the age of 16.
Joseph was released on his own recognizance since the charge is a non-bail qualifying offense, according to authorities.
Rockland County District Attorney Thomas E. Walsh II praised the work of law enforcement in a release announcing the arrest.
“Protecting children from sexual predators using the internet to exploit them is a top priority for my office and I’m proud and grateful for the work of the Rockland County District Attorney’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force,” he said.
