Our hearts go out to all dealing with the impact of Hurricane Milton. The storm continues to move east of Florida this morning. Damage evaluation and cleanup efforts will likely be ongoing for a long time.

Locally, it is a cool day today with highs only in the 50s, but under a lot of sunshine. The lower Hudson Valley needs rain, but there is still not much to be found over the next week other than maybe a couple of light showers on Sunday. Saturday will be the best half of the weekend with sunny skies and high temperatures in the 70s.

DROUGHT MONITOR: Abnormally dry conditions still exist for a lot of the lower Hudson Valley.

FOLIAGE: Westchester, Rockland, Orange, Putnam counties: Low to moderate color. Dutchess and Ulster counties: Moderate to high color.

TROPICS: Hurricane Milton has exited Florida's east coast after bringing more than 120 tornado warnings, intense storm surge, damaging wind and a lot of coastal flooding as well as flooding from torrential tropical rain. While the actual weather is dramatically improving this morning, massive cleanup efforts are now beginning. The storm made landfall around 8:30 p.m. last night near Siesta Key as a category three with wind around 120 mph.

TODAY: Mostly sunny. Breezy and dry. Highs around 59 degrees.

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and chilly. Some patchy frost is possible, mainly north of I-84. A frost advisory is posted for western Ulster County. Lows near 40 degrees.

FRIDAY: Cold start with early morning temperatures in the 30s to low 40s. Mostly sunny. Highs around 67 degrees. Lows near 53 degrees.

SATURDAY: Nice and warmer with highs around 74 degrees under a mostly sunny sky. Lows near 45 degrees.

SUNDAY: Increasing clouds. Chance for a couple of afternoon and evening rain showers, but a lot of the day likely ends up dry. Highs around 64 degrees. Lows near 47 degrees.

MONDAY: Partly sunny, breezy and cooler with highs around 63 degrees. Lows near 41 degrees.

TUESDAY: Partly sunny and breezy. Highs around 58 degrees. Lows near 40 degrees.

WEDNESDAY: Partly sunny and cool. Highs around 59 degrees. Lows around 40 degrees.
