A legendary hot dog company is celebrating its 106th birthday with a very special deal.
Walter's Hot Dogs is selling its dogs for $1.06 all day Monday and Tuesday at its original Mamaroneck location and their White Plains location.
Gene Christian Baca, the co-owner/operator and great-grandson of founder Walter Warrington, said the tradition of celebrating these anniversaries goes long back before him.
"My grandfather, Gene Warrington — Walter's son — he was always so proud of the anniversaries. I remember back at our 90th, or 95th anniversaries and it was 90 cent hot dogs or 95 cent hot dogs," he says.
Arts-Wetschester also joined in on the fun for the second anniversary celebration in a row and held a free watercolor workshop to help celebrate along Palmer Avenue.
The company is a Westchester institution and a nationally registered historic landmark. It has been serving its world-famous hot dogs since 1919.
It expects to sell thousands of hot dogs over the two days of the promo and celebration.
