Wakefield residents are desperate for help as they said their neighborhood has been taken over by drug users and prostitution.

Neighbors who live on Richardson Avenue between 241st Street and 243rd Street said the issue has been going on for years and believe the issue is getting worse as the weather warms up.

Evidence of the drug use can be seen on the sidewalk as empty liquor bottles and needle caps litter the ground. Residents said many of them have been fined for the litter.

"Several tickets, last one I paid was a month ago for $300" said Rosewell Feenee, who said people have sex in front of his window and leave used condoms and drug paraphernalia on the sidewalk.

Residents are also concerned because the illicit activity is happening feet from a daycare and in front of children who walk to and from school.

"All of the drugs and the pimping happens right here," said Michael John, from Wakefield. "Our children are suffocating seeing these things."

Residents are hoping the division of the Bronx into two patrol boroughs means more police officers patrolling their neighborhood and in turn a reduction in crime and illicit activity.
