Wilfredo Lopez, Elsie Encarnacion and Clarisa Alayeto are vying for a chance to represent New York City Council District 8, as Diana Ayala has reached her term limit.
Encarnacion said her top priorities are housing, youth resources and quality-of-life issues. The Democrat is the daughter of Puerto Rican parents and said she wants to serve the community that raised her.
Lopez said he is focused on affordability, public safety and delivering city services. The 44-year-old is a husband, father to a 19-month-old boy, an attorney and previously worked for City Councilmember Ben Kallos.
Alayeto said affordable housing, public safety and sanitation are her top priorities. She was raised by her grandparents in the Patterson NYCHA Houses in Mott Haven, and currently serves as chairperson of Community Board 1.
