PREVIOUS COVERAGE LEADING UP TO THE DNC:
Local Democrats say they are ready to rally.
"I've never seen Democrats in Connecticut so excited," says Sen. Richard Blumenthal.
"I think New Jersey is gonna have great representation," says Rep. Mikie Sherrill.
"I think New Yorkers are going to have an amazing presence in Chicago," says Ny Whitaker, co-founder of New York for Harris.
New York for Harris is a 70,000-member volunteer group that formed within hours of Vice President Kamala Harris announcing her White House run.
Democrats in the tri-state say they are also fired up to support Harris's newly named running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.
"We were colleagues together. A champion for America's working families," says Rep. Adriano Espaillat, whose district includes Manhattan and the Bronx.

Here's a look at the week ahead, broken down by numbers:

It's estimated that there are 50,000 visitors in town for the convention.
There are about 15,000 members of the media.
About 5,000 delegates and alternates are expected to attend the convention. This includes 307 from New York, 145 from New Jersey and another 74 delegates from Connecticut.
A host of celebrities, influencers and party loyalists are also in attendance and contributing a level of enthusiasm that many Democrats say they haven't seen since President Barack Obama's White House run.
"It is the exuberance and energy that it has generated already like a jolt of caffeine," says Blumenthal.
"There is tremendous excitement about the possibility of making history and electing the first woman as president of the United States, and that's galvanizing Democrats here in New York into action," says Rep. Ritchie Torres.
