Let's head up to the fifth congressional district uh candidate Johanna Hayes. The incumbent is at the microphone. Let's listen in, right? I came down because I know it's getting late and people in Danbury are literally still voting. People who stood in line, we had over 1000 same day in-person registrations where people showed up today and voted. That's, that's amazing. But the numbers look good, like really good. So I'm gonna wait until the associated press officially calls this race, which I don't know when that'll be, but I wanted to come down here and just say you guys did this, you guys did this, you organized, you mobilized, you showed up, you brought your family, you brought your friends, you did this, you didn't like that number from two years ago and you opened it up, you opened it up. So thank you. Thank you for just all of your faith in me and for continuing to trust me with your vote, which fundamentally is just your most precious, right? And you are trusting me to be your voice for that vote and, and it is not lost on me that responsibility. So we're gonna my team and I are gonna go back and just wait and we'll have official results, I imagine very soon because like I said, the numbers look really good, but you're here and I said we were having a party no matter what. Because this year you guys, I feel like we've been campaigning for 19 months. You guys have worked so hard and I just want you to know how much I appreciate you, how much I thank you. I don't know, where can I have some water? I'm like so dry. My husband. I just want to thank my husband because as you can imagine, it's really hard. Thank you. It's really hard for a man to stand by and watch people try to scandalize his wife's name, try to attack my character over and over and over again. But one of the things I know for sure is that I know who I am and I know who I was before I went to Congress and I am still that person and nothing that anyone says or does can take that away from me. So nothing has changed. And I also know and the numbers show this and I think for me this is the most humbling part. The numbers show already that I have built up enough credibility amongst the voters in this district that they're not just gonna accept anything. People are going to give me the benefit of the doubt

Now, let's head to the campaigns across the region. The fifth congressional race between incumbent Democrat Johanna Hayes and Republican George Logan News Twelve's Marissa Alter is with the Hayes campaign tonight in Waterbury. Marissa. The was Hey, Mark and Becky. We are at the Courtyard Marriott in downtown downtown rather Waterbury. And this is where incumbent Democrat Johanna has supporters hope to be celebrating later tonight. They've got a DJ here. They have the dance floor ready and again, they are hoping to be celebrating her taking 1/4 term in this district. Her campaign tells me if she wins, she would be the first person to hold the seat for more than three terms since 1972. So we're talking over 50 years. He began the day early today, voting in W kid at six and then crisscrossing the district going to different polling stations. Her campaign tells me she is cautiously optimistic as the polls close. Of course, though two years ago, she only narrowly won beating challenger Republican challenger rather George Logan by less than 1% point this race again, a rematch of that and all eyes are on it because it really could be critical when we're talking about which party controls the US House Logan today as well. Spent the day going to different polling locations hoping to have a different end to the story than he did two years ago. His campaign says they are very optimistic about the fact that this is a presidential election, meaning more voter turnout. They think that will work in her favor in Waterbury.
