News 12 is stopping at various polling locations in Middlesex County this morning to talk to voters. Here are a few reminders you should know before you head out to the polls.
You can still submit your completed mail-in ballot through Election Day. The deadline for mail-in ballots returned via a drop box or in person at a board of elections office is Tuesday at 8 p.m. Mail-in ballots submitted via regular mail must be postmarked no later than Nov. 5.
Electioneering at polling locations it is not permitted in New Jersey. You cannot enter a polling place or stand within 100 feet of the outside entrance of a polling place, wearing or displaying anything that may offer support for or opposition against any candidate, party or public question on the ballot. This includes political badges, buttons, T-shirts, hats or other display that can be read or viewed to identify support or opposition of a candidate, political party or public questions.
If you believe you have been the victim of discrimination or harassment in the course of exercising your right to vote, you can file a report with the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights through the NJ BIAS online portal, available at
https://bias.njcivilrights.gov, or by calling
1-833-NJDCR4U (1-833-653-2748). Depending on their urgency, complaints regarding possible discrimination or harassment filed with the Division on Civil Rights may be addressed during the election or after the election.
