It’s two days until Thanksgiving, and there is an effort in Freeport to make sure veterans are fed.
Volunteers braved the rain during a drive-through event, with hundreds of veterans pulling up at The Armory in Freeport. Volunteers gave them turkeys and traditional Thanksgiving sides. Also, some winter essentials, clothes, socks, boots and shirts.
Veterans News 12 spoke with say they’re thankful.
“It’s doing at terrific service for everybody, the food. I can eat this weekend. Eat for a while. The leftovers will help a lot,” says Larry Klass, of Freeport.
Organizers say more than 300 cars are expected to drive through.
